GBV Referral System
Labata Fantalle Organization, with generous support from the Global Greengrants Fund, is advancing one of the first dedicated GBV protection and safeguarding initiatives in Fantalle District in East Shewa Zone, Oromia Region. In communities where services have historically been limited, we are working with local leaders, schools, and service providers to ensure that women, girls, and other at-risk groups know where to go and how to access survivor-centered support. As part of this initiative, GBV referral pathways have been mapped, GBV focal points identified, and user-friendly referral systems displayed in two villages. Orientation and awareness-raising sessions have already reached approximately 190 community members, equipping them with practical information on safeguarding, reporting, and safe access to services. The displayed pathways are expected to benefit more people across these villages, helping to ensure that no one is left without help when they need it. This work is an important step toward breaking silence, reducing stigma, and strengthening local protection systems. We call on partners, local authorities, and donors to join us in expanding these lifesaving GBV prevention and response efforts across Fantalle and beyond—so every survivor can access timely, dignified, and confidential care.
