International Women Day - March 8
Labata Fantalle Organization (LaFO), in collaboration with the Fantalle District Women and Children Affairs Office, commemorated International Women’s Day (March 8) in Matahara Town, Fantalle Woreda. The event served as a strategic platform to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment among pastoralist communities and local stakeholders. The celebration convened women from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, recognizing and elevating their contributions to household resilience, local development, and social cohesion—whether as pastoralists or formally employed professionals. Through this joint initiative, LaFO contributed to amplifying women’s voices, promoting inclusive participation, and reinforcing the recognition of women’s leadership in resilience-building and peaceful coexistence. The event also strengthened institutional collaboration at the woreda level, reinforcing shared commitments to gender-transformative approaches and sustained advocacy for women’s rights and empowerment in the context of recurrent shocks.
